City Montessori School (CMS) is the world’s largest city-school with 21 campuses with 55,000 students and 4,600 staff in the city of Lucknow, with classes from Montessori to Class XII. CMS founders, Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi were inspired by the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Sant Vinoba Bhave. CMS children are taught the value of 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam', or the ‘Earth is but One Country and Mankind its Citizens'. City Montessori School is the Recipient of the 2002 UNESCO Prize for Peace Education. CMS entered 2013 Guinness Book of World Records for being the World’s Largest City School with over 55,000 students at present.
